How did you attract/address your audience?

QUESTION 5

The point of sale for my magazine is likely to be most supermarkets and newsagents, as I believe that is where many of my target audience are likely to go. There were many elements in my front cover designed to attract my audience, for example my main cover image uses direct address to the camera. This entices a passerby that notices the magazine to be instantly intrigued, because it’s almost as if the individual in the image is encouraging them to pick the magazine up.  Another element I used to attract people to my magazine was the colour scheme. I chose to go for a purple and yellow effect as they complement each other nicely. They also stand out compared to a lot of other magazines that typically go for a red, white or black scheme.

I used the power of celebrities influence as another USP. (Unique selling point) My usp for my magazine is that I offer such a wide range freebies in my mag. Also I have a very large number of celebrity interviews inside so that fans could get an insight into the individual’s life. I tried to make sure the celebrity was someone that fit into my target audiences most preferred genre of music. Hopefully this would entice fans of the artist to pick up and buy the magazine.

The purpose of making my magazine Is to provide knowledge, therefore in my double page spread article there is a long interview with Callum Walker. Throughout this article I interrogated the artist finding out hidden secrets fans had supposedly asked for. I think the attitude is appropriate in my article bearing in mind the target audience. The artist and interviewer both provide questions and answers that make the reader desperate to read on and find further information. Throughout the production process I frequently asked for feedback from my audience resulting in me sending out several survey monkeys. In my questionnaire im talking to my audience as if they were within the interview itself.

The cover lines on my magazine also attract youth to look at my magazine, as the language is particularly suitable for their ages.
